Anglesey 31st May and 1st June
So after a disapointing meeting at Cadwell we all move on to the Anglesey circuit in Wales. I have never been to this track before so it was going to be interesting to see how quickly I can learn the track.
Saturday: After scruitneering and the fact it was a 10am start mself and my dad walked the track but as we were getting closer to the track we got in to a hot topic about the track which way the circuit went round because I said it went one way and my dad thought it went the other it wasn't untill we saw which way the lights were facing we realised the right direction. After walking the track it was time to go out for practice. I gelled with the track fairly quickly and we started to get some competetive times and by the end of practice I was ready for the first race. Unfortunatly as the red lights went out and we got to the first corner I got pushed out wide and ended up last. I managed to work my way back through the field but only to finish 11th but I learnt alot about the track and my times were as fast as the leaders so I knew if I could get away at the front I would be in contention for the win. The second race came and once again I had a unlucky start with myself being squashed at the first corner but I didn't lose any positions and I was with the leaders. Afetr making some close passes I was back up in the top five and pushing had to get on the podium but I pushed a little to hard and lost the front going into the first corner so the race was over and for my bike as we were unable to fix it so out came the spare bike.
Sunday: Starting last due to the crash and using my spare bike I was just looking to get some points from what was soon becoming another bad weekend. We made a good start and made up a number of places on the start. And with a couple of hard moves I managed to just pick people off and work my way through the field but once I stated to get near the front the bike just didn't have enough pace to make up any places and I finished 12th. In the second race I made another cracking start and this time I was with the leaders from the start but just as I was settling in the race got stopped and the race was to be rerun so all my work was for nothing and I just had to prepare myself now for the race again. I made another good start and with the leaders again but I was struggling to make headway because the bike just didn't quite have the legs with the newer bikes but I still managed to finish 7th so I was fairly happy with that considering where I started in the morning.
On reflection of the meeting it was probably a bit dispointing with the amount of points of collected over the weekend considering my lap times were as fast as the leaders but hopefully I may get some luck soon and we can make some headway and get back in the championship.
The next round of the championship is at my home track snetterton in Norfolk where I really hope I can do well in front of my friends, family and sponsors. Hope to see you there.
